Some application examples
• Interior Floor and Wall Tile Installations:
- Mapeset 222 is commonly used for setting tiles in residential and commercial settings, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas. Its flexibility makes it suitable for both walls and floors, allowing it to accommodate small shifts and vibrations.
• Outdoor Installations:
- Thanks to its water-resistant and freeze-thaw-stable formulation, Mapeset 222 can be used in outdoor installations, such as patios, terraces, balconies, and facades, where temperature changes might affect the stability of other adhesives.
• Wet Areas:
- It is suitable for tile installations in wet areas like showers, saunas, and steam rooms when used with an appropriate waterproofing membrane. Its high adhesion ensures that tiles remain in place despite frequent water exposure.
• High-Traffic Areas:
- Mapeset 222’s durability makes it ideal for high-traffic areas, like hotel lobbies, shopping centers, and airports, where floors need to withstand heavy foot traffic and constant use.
• Heated Floors:
- The adhesive’s flexibility makes it suitable for underfloor heating systems. Mapeset 222 can accommodate the expansion and contraction of materials due to temperature fluctuations without causing tile cracks or detachment.
• Natural Stone Installations:
- Mapeset 222 can be used to install certain types of moisture-stable natural stones, such as granite and some types of marble. This allows for versatile aesthetic choices in both residential and commercial designs.
Recommendations
• Do not use Mapeset 222 for large or heavy tile installations: Mapeset 222 is not ideal for large-format tiles or very heavy natural stones. For these, a high-performance, deformable adhesive with stronger bonding, like Mapei Keraflex Maxi S1 or Ultraflex LFT (Large Format Tile Mortar), is recommended.
• Do not use Mapeset 222 for non-porous or difficult surfaces: For non-porous surfaces like glass tiles, metal, or certain types of dense natural stones (e.g., granite, marble), Mapeset 222 may not adhere well. Use an epoxy-based adhesive such as Mapei Kerapoxy for better bonding.
• Do not use Mapeset 222 at heavy traffic areas: Mapeset 222 may not withstand heavy loads or high traffic areas (e.g., commercial kitchens, malls, or garages). Opt for a stronger adhesive like Mapei Granirapid or Mapei Ultralite for enhanced durability.
• Do not use Mapeset 222 on movement-prone or flexible substrates: Mapeset 222 is a rigid adhesive and may crack or debond if used on surfaces with significant movement or flexibility, such as plywood or drywall. In such cases, a flexible adhesive like Mapei Ultrabond Eco is a better choice.
• Do not use Mapeset 222 on high-moisture or submerged installations: For submerged or constantly wet environments (like swimming pools), choose a waterproof and mold-resistant option like Mapei Adesilex P10 with Mapei Isolastic to enhance waterproofing.
