How to create a waterproof wooden planter box using Shou Sugi Ban Yakisugi & King Kote KK233!
A wooden planter box adds natural beauty to your garden & landscape, especially suited to grow herbs, flowers, and even small fruit trees. With the harsh weather in Malaysia, the idea of natural “wooden” planter box might seems impractical or if yes, costly for maintenance. For long lasting, we need to make it resistant to weathering, rot and fungus. Using King Kote KK233 Enhanced Interface Emulsion Primer, it added the extra advantage of waterproofing the planter box. Now, we have a wooden fish box!
We have applied the Shou Sugi Ban (Japanese Woodworking Technique) here to showcase the natural grains of the pine wood timber. Scorching or torching the timber also enhance the waterproofing property, and a simple method of wood preservation.
King Kote KK233 Enhanced Interface Emulsion Primer is formulated by using acrylic resin polymer. It has excellent penetration and adhesion. KK233 is a multi-purpose product. It can be used as primer, water-based paint additive, cement mixture, adhesive and many more.
