  • Test Ingredients   
  • Tomato sauce + real tomato. - contains puree, salt, vinegar, artificial flavouring & colouring & etc.
    Black & thick soy sauce. -  fermented dark liquid for seasoning purpose.
    Conditioning shampoo - form layers of scum after some times which are difficult to clean.
    Bathroom cleaning solutions - detergent commonly use for cleaning up the mosaics or tiles.
    Balsamic vinegar. - a dark concentrated vinegar used in salad dressings, gourmet marinades and sauces,  with approximately 6-7% acidity.
    Coffee. - coffee stain can be quite disastrous on floor tiles.

    Colour stains were our primary concern in this crash test, and therefore Mapei Fuga must fulfill this basic requirement. However, please be reminded that all paints are subjected to "fading" against time and/or external factors.

    Unrinsed foams or bubbles after showers can form layers of scum or dirt which are difficult to remove. That is the reason why we have also included shampoo and cleaning solutions in our crash tests.

    We have excluded cooking oil as test ingredient, as oil does not react or bond with the dry paint.

    We were interested in the "acidity" test, and we presumed that vinegar would have chemical reactions with the groove lines. But, the claim was not justified.

    The coffee stain test was considered extreme, as we have left it for many hours. The cleaning process was rather gentle instead of hard scrubbing, as we do not intend to damage the grouting paint.

    Conclusion
    After a close examination, we noticed that 85% of the grouting lines remain untainted while 15% has some coffee shadowing. There were absolutely no issues with the tiles surface. With a long 8 hours drying time, we believe that the coffee has deep penetrated into the lines, causing the stain difficult to be removed. Overall, Mapei Fuga has met our expectations, and for its performance and durability, we are giving it another thumbs up.
